Northern Bottle Nose Whale
Northern Bottle Nose Whale
September 2009.While on holiday in Dorset we heard of a Northern Bottlenose Whale off Bournmouth and decided to go take a look.
The Whale was found a fair way out but seen well through a scope . I managed one or two record shots. Apparantly 'Gilbert' as the Whale had been named was 200 or so miles off course. Sadly a week later it was discovered washed up dead on Bournmouth beach, the likely cause being dehydration after not being able to find its usual prey of Squid from which it gets water .
